Labour of love

I love editing. I can’t help it. There’s something so nice about making someone else’s text better. It’s truly not about correcting mistakes and knowing things better than the author. It’s about seeing the higher potential in a text and chipping away the imperfections, polishing the text sculpture until it’s smooth and beautiful. Yep, it’s a labour of love, at the service of the author.

Loving a text into existence

So nice when you start off with a handful of very, very rough information and then you do some research and start writing and aligning with the subject, basically loving a text into existence (‘cause you can’t write well about something you don’t bother to get interested in), and lo and behold: at the end you reread what you’ve written and you think ‘Darn, this is good!’ I love that about my job.
